ReadUpdated 2026-10-02Legion Was Here is a dark-comedy spy deduction game from solo developer Geoffroy Monde, published by Surefire.Games. You play Legion, an agent who rebuilds his face in an operating room, reads a stolen life out of a dossier, and then has to survive a conversation as somebody else. The full game unlocks on October 13, 2026; the free demo has been out since July 29, 2025.
This site is written from the public Steam listing, the developer's own announcements and the demo's Steam discussions. Nothing here is copied from official marketing text, and anything not public yet is labelled as such.
Your first hour, in five steps
- Play the demo before you read anything else. It is the same loop as the full game with a smaller case load, and it teaches the note-taking habit that everything else depends on. See the demo guide.
- Learn the three phases. Reconnaissance, transformation, performance. A mission fails in the third phase, not the second, and that is where most new players lose their run — see the beginner guide.
- Read the dossier twice. First pass for the mission, second pass for the person you are pretending to be. The dossier guide covers the reading order that stops you from guessing.
- Only then open the operating room. Age, hair, nose and eyes are cheap to change; picking the wrong face is what costs you the conversation. Disguise guide.
- Check the release details before you buy. One platform, twelve languages, no price announced yet — release date and platforms.
Quick answers
| Question | Short answer | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Is the demo the whole game? | No. One full mission plus the tutorial, three languages instead of twelve | Demo guide |
| Can I fail a mission? | Yes, but you can replay it and the mission does not play out the same way twice | Beginner guide |
| Do I need to write notes by hand? | The game expects it. Your character writes on his left hand, and nothing is highlighted for you | Dossier guide |
| Does it run on Linux or Steam Deck? | Not officially. The demo needs WebView2 and there is no Linux build | Demo guide |
What is not on this site yet
The full game is not out, so there are no final mission lists, no achievement list, no ending guide and no price. Those pages get written from the release build, not guessed at now. The demo has no public achievement list either.
